▶ Construction - Cycling Infrastructure
Mississauga is a city under construction all the time, or so it seems. The Hurontario Street LRT project in particular is dragging on. Of most interest to people on bikes are the cycling infrastructure projects -- in future the construction of promised cycle tracks alongside the LRT will be of tremendous interest! Cycling infrastructure projects in Mississauga are variously conducted by the City, the Region of Peel, or the Province, e.g. Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario or MTO. And sometimes the funding comes from the federal government, e.g. Government of Canada's Active Transportation Fund initiated in 2022. So much time is spent advocating, consulting residents, funding, planning, designing and even seeking final political approval for cycling infrastructure to proceed, until at last the project enters the Construction phase! What's going on?

The City's Current Construction Projects webpage provides information on all current year (i.e. 2025) projects including roads, bridges, sewers, watermains or other types of infrastructure. An interactive Construction MAP is included on the webpage. Cycling infrastucture under construction is depicted with a pink dashed line (see sidebar), and AT bridges with a green bicycle (zoom image at left: excerpt from the 2025 Mississauga construction map).

There is also a Ward-by-Ward listing of the planned 2025 road-based cycling infrastructure projects. Source PDF documents are accessible on the same webpage.
