▶ Cycling Master Plan Updates

The Mississauga Cycling Master Plan was last updated in 2018.  This was not a full review, but an overdue update to the original CMP created in 2010.  The 2018 CMP update never met its targets (neither did the 2010 plan), and now collectively we must again advocate for a structured plan that will be successfully implemented, year by year, with clear targets and measurable milestones leading to priority completion of a safe, connected cycling network.

[Posted: Sept. 9, 2024; Updated Nov. 27, 2024; Feb. 1, 2025; May 28, 2025; June 7, 2025; July 4, 2025]

Public engagement will begin June 2025 (originally Fall 2024).  The delay is due to uncertainty about the impacts of Bill 212 which received Royal Assent on November 25, 2024.  Track the project and upcoming meeting dates on the City's dedicated webpage: 2025 Cycling Master Plan update.  Contact info for the project team is posted on the City's webpage, where you can subscribe for project updates.

The context of the 2024 CMP Update includes recent examples of cities around the world (Bonjour Paris) finally deciding to de-prioritize the car and facilitate active transportation in order to boost liveability.  This has taken leadership and political will, but the environmental, social and economic benefits have proven that cycling is a key component of city building, creating a great place to live.

MISSISSAUGA'S NEXT 50 YEARS: To kick off Mississauga's 2024-25 Strategic Plan review, and also set the stage for the 2025 Cycling Master Plan update (originally planned for 2024), urbanist and city planner Brent Toderian spoke at the Living Arts Centre (LAC) on January 17, 2024 about creating liveable, sustainable cities.  He stated that cycling is key to the strategy for positive change, including a 3-year build of a Minimum Grid of protected bike lanes in Mississauga.
